The Macao Monetary Authority Will Study the Feasibility of Launching the Digital Currency

Abstract : The Chinese mainland is in the leading position in the relevant technology, and has entered the pilot test stage.

April 16 (ChainDD) According to the Securities Times, the Macao Special Administrative Region Government (SAR Government) is concerned about the development trend of "Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC/DCEP)" around the world in recent years, the Macao Monetary Authority said recently.

Many central banks around the world are pushing forward the research and development of CBDC, and the Chinese mainland is in the leading position in the relevant technology, and has entered the pilot test stage.

The SAR Government says it will keep in communication with the People's Bank of China (PBOC) to follow up the development of CBDC and study the feasibility of launching a digital currency in due course, and there is no timetable at present.
