Abstract : In addition, Australia has also taken a stand on Bitcoin ETFs.
February 12 (ChainDD) North America's first Bitcoin ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) has won approval from Canada's financial regulator.
The Bitcoin ETF was approved by the Ontario Securities Commission and the prospectus has been filed in the United Kingdom and Canada under the Multilateral Document 11-102 Passport System, according to a decision document on Thursday.
In addition, Australia has also taken a stand on Bitcoin ETFs. The Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) clarified its position that it was open to Bitcoin ETFs as long as investors were protected by the appropriate rules.
The regulator said that a Bitcoin ETF was possible and that for any product quoted on the ASX (Australian Securities Exchange) market, there would need to be appropriate rules for the specific market.
