Virtual Currency Can be Inherited in China, According to the Inheritance Law

May 22 (ChianDD) According to the Information Times, CCTV Finance reported that in the succession series submitted for the review of the draft Civil Code, the scope of legacy inheritance will change from the listing of citizens' income, housing, forest, cultural relics, copyrights into "legal property of individuals left when natural persons pass away".

This will likely mean that as long as the property is legally acquired by a natural person, it belongs to the legacy which can be inherited.

Yang Lixin, a professor at Renmin University of China, said in an interview, "for example, things such as online property, virtual currency, etc., can also be considered as legacy which can be inherited."
